Verita J. Gulati
Verita J. Gulati is an Associate in the Firm’s Construction and Employment Law Practice Groups. Ms. Gulati represents design professionals in construction defect and delay claims on projects including parking structures, condominiums, tract housing, retail developments, shopping malls, commercial structures, and single-family homes. Ms. Gulati’s employment law experience includes representing clients in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability, breach of contract, and other employment-related matters.
Ms. Gulati graduated from DePaul University with a B.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a minor in Business Administration. Ms. Gulati received her law degree from St. John’s University in 2003. During law school, Ms. Gulati externed with the Superfund Department of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, where she drafted memoranda regarding jurisdiction over World Trade Center clean-up. Ms. Gulati interned for Magistrate Judge Robert M. Levy in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.
Following graduation from law school, Ms. Gulati served as Staff Attorney for New York City’s Department of Social Services, where she represented the Administration of Children’s Services on foster care cases. Prior to joining Severson & Werson, Ms. Gulati represented clients involved in commercial litigation, construction, insurance coverage, and personal injury matters at Gordon & Rees, LLP, in San Francisco, California.
Ms. Gulati’s litigation experience encompasses overseeing large-scale discovery and document review requests. Her experience includes managing vendor selection, negotiating fee agreements and scopes of work with vendors, and acting as a liaison for lead attorneys, review team members, and vendors. She counsels clients on preparing e-discovery response plans and court-ordered e-discovery protocols, and advises on which types of programs and review techniques are compatible with each client’s specific needs. She regularly attends conferences on e-discovery innovations and is a member of Women in E-Discovery.
