Joel brings a practical approach to advising and representing employers and financial institutions in a variety of situations.
Joel Spann is an Associate in Severson & Werson’s San Francisco office, where he practices in the Employment Practice Group, representing employers in a variety of issues, and the Financial Service Litigation Group, primarily representing lenders. Since 2021, Mr. Spann has been the update author for the Continuing Education of the Bar “Advising California Employers & Employees” chapter on employment discrimination and harassment. Mr. Spann has also served as in-house counsel for a large national bank, managing litigation in a number of states and jurisdictions.
Mr. Spann graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2007. While in law school, Mr. Spann worked on a pro bono basis at the Employee Rights Center, a non-profit organization offering legal services regarding employment and labor law. Mr. Spann is licensed to practice in California and Hawaii. Prior to law school, Mr. Spann earned his B.A. at University of California, Davis.
