Jeane Struck recently successfully completed the three-day Litigation Management Institute course, earning the designation of Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP). Hosted at Columbia Law School in New York City, the Litigation Management Institute (LMI) is the first certification program specifically designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the business of litigation management and to bridge the gap between legal theory and litigation strategy. This intensive program consisted of required reading and lectures on issues ranging from risk transfer to litigation metrics, with particular emphasis placed on case assessment and early resolution, creative approaches to a settlement, and understanding expectations. In addition to the daily class work, there were group projects and presentations based on the application of the covered topics to a hypothetical fact pattern, and the 100 participants consisting of attorneys and claims professionals were then evaluated based on project presentation skills, classroom involvement, and written peer reviews.
